Program and Community Engagement Manager

Full-Time | Wednesday–Sunday | Reports to: Program Director

The Program and Community Engagement Manager is a full time position that leads weekend educational programming and manages volunteer engagement in support of our mission to inspire love of nature and foster environmental understanding. This dynamic, public-facing role includes coordinating individual and group volunteer projects, supervising part-time educators, assisting with animal care, and supporting organizational events and partnerships. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic educators and communicators with experience in environmental education, volunteer coordination, and outdoor program management.

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Program Management

●    Lead monthly Second Saturday volunteer events and weekday volunteer projects (W–F).

●    Identify volunteer needs in collaboration with staff.

●    Recruit, communicate with, and support volunteers.

●    Maintain a volunteer database (skills, availability, and event needs).

●    Plan and lead one annual volunteer appreciation event.

●    Speak confidently to large groups at events.

Weekend Program Management and Animal Care

●    Schedule, manage, and staff weekend and educational programs, including Scout programs, some weekday program overlap

●    Hire, train, and supervise part-time educators.

●    Monitor and manage inventory of program materials.

●    Assist with teaching programs as needed.

●    Support organization-wide events and fundraising activities.

●    Responsible for the budget of owned programs and volunteers

●    Animal Care shared responsibility for resident program animals (turtles, snakes and fish)

Grounds & Partnerships

●    Maintain a calendar for grounds-related volunteer projects.

●    Coordinate with the City of Dunwoody Parks & Rec.

●    Understand and help implement the Master Park Plan.

Qualifications:

●    Bachelor’s degree in education, environmental science, or related field—or equivalent experience.

●    Strong public speaking, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

●    Experience with WordPress, Constant Contact (or similar), Microsoft Office.

●    Ability to work outdoors, lift up to 50 lbs., and walk up to 5 miles.

●    Experience in environmental or outdoor education is preferred.
