Overview and Background
The Roswell United Methodist Church Foundation, Inc. (RUMCF) is seeking a highly skilled Executive Director to fulfill this important position supporting the church and the community. The RUMC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, was founded in 1989 under the leadership of Dr. Malone Dodson. In 1998, the RUMC Foundation, Inc. became officially independently incorporated. Currently the Foundation has over $7 million in investments with strategic partners Georgia United Methodist Foundation. It has 55 endowments, which grant an average of $200,000 annually.
Reporting to the board of directors, the Executive Director will oversee the strategic and operational efficiencies of RUMCF programs. This seasoned leader will understand current trends in the nonprofit community, critical changes in nonprofit regulations, and will also have experience in developing and implementing a successful fundraising plan. Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships within the church and community is essential. Above all, the Executive Director should be highly effective in a leadership role that requires clear communication skills, leadership skills and decisiveness.
Key Facts
· Hybrid position with on-site (Roswell, GA) work required during core business hours
· Salaried exempt part-time position with average of 20 hours a week
· The projected start date is November 1, 2025
· Reports to the board of directors, with direct reporting relationship to the RUMCF Board Chairperson. Consults with the RUMC Associate Pastor for Operations and Outreach regarding fund raising, scheduling, distribution of funds, and other areas as needed to ensure close coordination with church operations.
Responsibilities
· Financial - Oversees establishing budget and managing finances in conjunction with Board Treasurer
· Strategic Planning – Manages to the organization’s strategic plans as established by the board of directors
· Congregational and Staff Support – Provides educational opportunities to educate members and staff about the benefits of the RUMC Foundation
· Donor Leadership - Develops relationships with donors and potential donors and maintains relationships with current donors
· Community Relations - Oversees the organization’s public relations, marketing, and advertising
· Development and Fundraising - Leads development and fundraising initiatives
· Endowment Management – Prepares all endowment documentation in agreement with donor’s wishes
· Grant Management - Facilitates the determination of the annual grant distribution following guidelines of individual endowments
· Financial and Investment Management - Manages the relationships with Georgia United Methodist Foundation and Wespath (current foundation investment organization). Additionally has experience in basic organizational financial and accounting concepts
· Legal and Compliance Responsibilities - Oversees coordination and reporting requirements with
federal, state, and local agencies
· Data Management - Proficiency with databases and spreadsheets for donor management. Currently the foundation board manages the grant processing and communications with Basecamp
· Board Meeting - Plans and organizes Quarterly Board meetings, in coordination with Board Chairperson and Treasurer
· Annual Report - Prepares and distributes organization’s Annual Report
· All other duties and responsibilities to support the organization
Skills & Experience Required
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Proficiency in all desktop software applications
· Bachelor's degree
· Experience working in a non-profit organization
· Confidentiality is critical
· Strong experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising
· Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization
· Public speaking skills and able to interact with all levels of audience
· Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a way that best serves organization
Skills & Experience Preferred
· Experience leading a non-profit for at least 5 years, with experience leading a faith-based organization a plus
· Experience with endowment management and grant processing.
· Negotiation skills
· Social media experience
· Proven success working with a board of directors
