Position Summary
AVLF seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented Digital Communications Coordinator to support our storytelling, content creation, and marketing efforts. This role is ideal for an early-career communications professional passionate about social justice and digital engagement. The coordinator will support day-to-day content development, campaign execution, and digital platform management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Content Creation & Digital Execution (50%)
- Draft and schedule social media content (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) using approved templates, captions, and assets
- Write and format email campaigns and monthly newsletters via Mailchimp or similar platforms
- Maintain and update AVLF’s website and blog with news, events, and storytelling content
- Draft and publish feature stories, program highlights, and community spotlights
- Collaborate with internal staff to gather stories, photos, quotes, and updates
- Monitor and respond to basic social media inquiries and engagement
Design, Asset Management & Visual Storytelling (30%)
- Create graphics using Canva templates aligned with brand guidelines
- Maintain and organize AVLF’s photo and marketing asset libraries
- Contribute to simple video/audio storyboarding (editing not required, but interest is welcomed)
- Ensure consistency with AVLF’s visual identity and messaging
Platform Support, Analytics & Admin (20%)
- Compile basic monthly reports (email open rates, social media analytics, website traffic)
- Assist with internal communications such as staff updates and event invites
- Provide administrative support for department-wide projects as needed
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field preferred, with 1–3 years of relevant experience; equivalent work experience may substitute for formal education (nonprofit experience a plus).
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to clarity, tone, and voice
- Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Buffer)
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact
- Basic Canva skills for template-based graphics
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in storytelling, community engagement, and equity-driven work

Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed working from home and in office environments. May spend time traveling to and from meetings with clients. Works in a fast-paced office environment with work requiring multi-tasking. May require bending and prolonged sitting and/or standing.
Competitive salary in the range of $45,000 to $55,000, (paid hourly) commensurate with experience and qualifications
