My Sister’s Place (MSP) is a non-profit Christian organization that opens its doors with love to provide safe shelter, nourishing food, a nurturing environment and resources for women and their children who are experiencing homelessness. My Sister’s Resale Boutique is a program of MSP, and is a high-quality thrift boutique supporting shelter operations. All employees recognize that we are a Christian ministry and agree they will do nothing as an employee of My Sister’s Place to undermine its mission.

THE JOB

The Boutique Manager is a full-time exempt position responsible for the oversight of the My Sister’s Resale Boutique and its operations, staff and volunteers. In partnership with the Executive Director and members of the Board, other key duties of the Boutique Manager include strategic planning, marketing, and community outreach including engaging and sustaining a highly active volunteer base. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

The Boutique Manager is responsible for the management and operations of the My Sister’s Resale Boutique which provides financial support for My Sister’s Place shelter operations. The Boutique Manager is responsible for ensuring the Boutique is a viable and impactful part of the My Sister’s Place organization. Duties of the Boutique Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring My Sister’s Resale Boutique, to include both the store and donation center, is always a welcoming place to all and customers are provided with excellent service.
  • Hiring, retaining, and supervising competent, qualified staff as supported by the Executive Director. Inform and consult with the Executive Director in a timely manner regarding significant issues that arise with personnel and reach a collective agreement regarding the hiring/termination of personnel.
  • Handling effective oversight and administration of the day-to-day Boutique operations, ensuring compliance with any policies, procedures, and security This includes oversight of the Donation Center, ensuring it maintains a safe and viable level of inventory, and is well organized.
  • Engaging and sustaining a highly active volunteer base within the Volunteers will be responsible for sorting, pricing, and placing merchandise, and other operational tasks assigned by the Boutique Manager.
  • Managing the financial performance and viability of the My Sister’s Resale Works with the staff, volunteers, Executive Director and Board of Directors as needed to implement key marketing strategies that promote sales and awareness in the community.
  • Managing the fiscal integrity of the My Sister’s Resale Boutique inclusive of the accounting of all funds, ensuring sound financial practices, and complying with all laws. Manager tracks and reports daily sales totals, assists the Executive Director with boutique reports to the Board of Directors, and prepares deposits when needed.
  • Ensuring timely communication with the Executive Director, sharing all information necessary for the Executive Director to make informed decisions.
  • Representing the My Sister’s Place organization in the community in accordance with its mission. Boutique Manager works with Executive Director and Board of Directors regarding any formal public appearance and/or media request.
  • Developing and implementing practices that support the Christian ministry aspect of the Boutique and Donation Center operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
