Job Description

The Jacob’s Ladder Group is seeking a compassionate, patient, reliable, and experienced In-Home Care Provider to assist a young adult client with neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and physiological needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviors, such as aggression towards others and/or self, emotional dysregulation, or resistance to routine care. You will play a crucial role in helping the client lead a more independent and fulfilling life in the comfort of their own home.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized care and support to the client, including assistance with daily living activities (i.e., grooming, bathing, dressing, meal preparation, etc.)
  • Develop and implement behavior management strategies under the supervision of the clinical team at The Jacob’s Ladder Group.
  • Monitor and document the client’s progress and behavior, communicating regularly with family members and the clinical team.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and structured environment in the home.
  • Engage the client in therapeutic and recreational activities that encourage emotional and behavioral growth.
  • Administer medications and assist with medical appointments as needed, specifically working with the client to increase overall tolerance, ability, and independence in these aspects.
  • Utilize the client’s specific regulation and support strategies when navigating complex behaviors.
  • Foster a positive and respectful relationship with the client and their family.
  • Provide care for the client in the afternoon and evening hours, on weekends, and on school breaks/holidays.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-2+ years’ experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges, autism, developmental disabilities, or mental health conditions
  • Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies, including de-escalation techniques and behavior management plans
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Flexibility in adapting to the client's changing needs and behaviors
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
