HomeStretch, Inc. empowers families experiencing homelessness to achieve permanent stability through housing, support services, and community engagement. We are poised for growth and seeking a visionary, results-driven Development Director to lead our fundraising and donor engagement eforts.

Position Summary

HomeStretch, Inc. seeks an experienced Development Director to design and execute comprehensive donor acquisition, retention, and stewardship strategies across all categories of giving—including individual, corporate, small business, foundations, and social/civic/community organizations. The Development Director will build and lead a high- performing development team, optimize our donor management software (Bloomerang), and develop both short- and long-term strategies—including positioning the organization for a capital campaign within five years.

This position holds direct responsibility for achieving HomeStretch’s annual fundraising goal of $1.5 million. Success in this role will be measured by meeting or exceeding this target.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that encompasses individual, corporate, small business, foundation, and social/civic/community organization giving.
  • Create and execute donor acquisition, retention, and stewardship strategies to grow donor base and giving levels in all categories.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to align fundraising strategies with organizational
  • Build and manage a functional development department structure, currently including a Development Manager (grant writing/donor communications) and a part- time Administrative Support person.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development for the development team.
  • Oversee all aspects of fundraising, including annual appeals, major gifts, grants, events, and planned giving, from all targeted donor segments.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring a personalized and high-touch donor experience.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for Bloomerang, ensuring accurate donor records, segmentation, and reporting.
  • Work closely with staf across departments to identify and leverage opportunities to expand donor relations and engage staf in fundraising
  • Oversee development-related communications, including donor newsletters, appeals, reports, and impact stories.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies across multiple donor segments.
  • Experience managing and growing a development
  • Proficiency with donor management software (Bloomerang preferred).
